COMMON CRANE - Tyninghame Bay / Aberlady - August 2009
On the 25th August 2009 a Common Crane was reported from Tyninghame, but details on the find were a bit vaig and news never really broke until the 27th when the bird was confirmed as still present by the original finder. On the 28th the bird was looked for early morning and luckily it was still there in the Inner Bay, it remained in this area for the next couple of days and was last seen flying over Aberlady Bay on the afternoon of the 30th. During its stay at Tyninghame, a handful of lucky observers saw the bird at reasonably close range just west of the bay in fields along the ware road, it showed increadably well here and gave some spectacular flight views.
