The highlight of a very disappointing month was the continued presence of a Firecrest (found in January) in Gosford Estate near Aberlady, it did remain elusive throughout the month but persistence usually paid off and most who tried for the bird connected with it. Waxwings arrived in small numbers but very few lingered for long, 3 were in the Northfield Area (Edinburgh) between the 8th - 10th, 2 were in Haddington on the 13th at least, 7 in Prestonpans on the 23rd and two groups of 14 & 4 in Livingston on the 27th. An impressive county flock of (pale-bellied) Brent Geese were at Torness from the 15th, the original flock of

22 jumped to 27 on the 19th, but fell to 11 on the 27th. A single dark-bellied Brent Goose remained from January on Fidra.
Other sightings which just about deserve a mention were a Green Sandpiper (from January) at Tyninghame on the 2nd, a Great Northern Diver off Gullane on the 13th, the resident (presumed pure) Hooded Crow near Sighthill (Edinburgh) on the 8th, a single Snow Bunting at Aberlady on the 28th, and Mediterranean Gulls were at Musselburgh, Seton Sands and Cramond.
