LESSER YELLOWLEGS - Aberlady Bay - July - December 2009
This Lesser Yellowlegs found on Wednesday 22nd July by Dave Allan was a very popular bird and just the 4th record of this species in Lothian. It soon became a big attraction throughout it's stay and was present (pretty much daily) from the day it was found on the burn around the wooden bridge and car park, for a while it did look as if it would spend the winter here but unfortunetly it didn't make it into 2010 and was last reported on 20th December. It was surley seen and enjoyed by a triple figure amount of birdwatchers, some from as far as south of the border. For the most part, the bird showed really well allowing some excellent photographs to be taken during its stay. A very welcome visitor, especially for those who needed on their county list.
