WED 29/10/14 At Musselburgh the drake SURF SCOTER again off the River Esk Mouth late morning at least also Greenshank & 2 Ruff on the wader scrapes today +
9 Whooper Swans south & 8 Whooper Swans west at 4.45pm. At Seton Sands drake Garganey again late a'noon at burn mouth also adult Med Gull at 4pm + nearby
17 Whooper Swans flew SW over Tranent at c5.30pm. In Gosford Bay a Great Northern Diver off Ferny Ness at 3.30pm also 6 Red-throated Divers, 6 Slavonian Grebes,
22 Long-ailed Ducks & 7 Whooper Swans. In Aberlady Bay Jack Snipe & 25 Twite at north end of saltmarsh at 2.30pm + 2 Greenshanks & Kingfisher near wooden footbridge + 25 Twite by car park at Kilspindie at 12pm.

TUE 28/10/14 At Seton Sands the eclipse drake Garganey again off the burn mouth with Wigeon late a'noon / early evening having flew in from the south at 4.45pm also adult Med Gull & Gadwall.

MON 27/10/14 At Seton Sands the eclipse drake Garganey still with Wigeon off the burn mouth mid-a'noon at least also Gadwall.

SUN 26/10/14 On the Lothian / Upper Forth border 6 TAIGA BEAN GEESE flew west past Blackness at 12.20pm. At Seton Sands an eclipse drake Garganey on sea off the burn mouth with Wigeon this a'noon. In Aberlady Bay 3 Ruff, 4 Gadwall (one drake) & 12 Twite late a'noon but no sign of the Garganey present y'day.

SAT 25/10/14 In Aberlady Bay a Garganey this a'noon off Kilspindie on rising tide also Little Egret & 17 Twite. In North Berwick a Greenshank on rock pools at west end of Milsey Bay this morning. At Musselburgh 5 Whooper Swans on wader scrapes this a'noon.

FRI 24/10/14 At Torness no sign today of the Booted Warbler despite extensive searching throughout the day. At Barns Ness a Lapland Bunting flew over the old campsite at 1.45pm. At Seton Sands adult Med Gull by the burn mouth this a'noon. In Aberlady Bay a Little Egret by the wooden footbridge. At Musselburgh 3 Ruff on the wader scrapes this a'noon + 2 Twite along seawall still.

THU 23/10/14 At Torness the Booted Warbler still showing well in hawthorns by the lower car park east of the power station visitors car park late morning at least. At Musselburgh the drake SURF SCOTER still off the River Esk Mouth 11am at least. In Aberlady Bay 2 Ruff, Greenshank, Little Egret, Pintail, Gadwall & Kingfisher at high tide early a'noon.

WED 22/10/14 At Torness the Booted Warbler again today, singing & showing well in the bushes adjacent to the lower car park and football pitch all day (+ possible Siberian Lesser Whitethroat in the plantation adjacent to the power station visitor centre).

MON 20/10/14 At Torness the Booted Warbler again today, showing well in the bushes adjacent to the lower car park and football pitch this afternoon. At Barns Ness the BARRED WARBLER still present, favouring the sycamores midway along the old campite wood.

SUN 19/10/14 At Torness the Yellow-browed Warbler still by the visitors car park at 10:30 (+ Lesser Whitethroat, Brambling & White Wagtail). At Dunbar Harbour a 1st-winter Mediterranean Gull on rocks on the south side.

SAT 18/10/14 At Skateraw no sign of the Siberian Stonechat but Yellow-browed Warbler near toilet block early a'noon. At Torness no sign of the Booted Warbler in trees by visitors car park but Yellow-browed Warbler reported. At Musselburgh drake Scaup & 2 Gadwall at the River Esk Mouth + Slavonian Grebe on boating pond still + 2 Ruff & 5 Whooper Swans on the wader scrapes early a'noon. In Aberlady Bay drake Scaup & Greenshank at 1.45pm. Off Prestonpans Red-necked Grebe & Slavonian Grebe.

LATE NEWS 17/10/14 At Barns Ness the Yellow-browed Warbler still in the old campsite wood in a'noon. In Aberlady Bay 6 Little Egrets, Ruff & Greenshank in evening.

FRI 17/10/14 At Skateraw the female Siberian Stonechat (relocated from Torness) showing well around the lime kiln & crop field by toilet block this a'noon. At Torness
no news today on the Booted Warbler (female Siberian Stonechat early morning before moving to Skateraw). At Barns Ness a BARRED WARBLER in scrub midway along the old campiste wood on seaward side this a'noon. At Scoughall a Yellow-browed Warbler in trees on north side of the orchard west of the farm late morning. At Musselburgh the drake SURF SCOTER still off the River Esk Mouth this a.m.

THU 16/10/14 At Torness the female Siberian Stonechat still in stubble field by entrance to power station / along side access road this evening showing very well at times + Booted Warbler (+ Lesser Whitethroat) still at the east end of the plantation by power station visitor centre though elusive at times NT748748 - please keep a sensible distance - use lower car park nearest seawall east of visitor centre please do not park in visitor car park. At Skateraw 1+ Yellow-browed Warbler, one in Dean by waterfall still at 3pm, one in trees by lime kiln at 11am. At Barns Ness the Yellow-browed Warbler still in old campsite wood this p.m also 4 Twite on beach. Off Port Seton
Black Guillemot still east of the harbour this a'noon + adult Med Gull at Seton Burn Mouth.

WED 15/10/14 At Torness the Siberian Stonechat still showing very well this a'noon in stubble field SE of the visitors centre at Torness Power Station + Booted Warbler (+ 5 Brambling) still in trees at east end of plantation by visitors car park NT748748 +but no sign of the Bluethroat present y'day. At Barns Ness a Yellow-browed Warbler in the old campsite wood this a.m + nearby Yellow-browed Warbler on the west side of Whitesands Bay in Triangle Wood mid-a'noon NT705777. At Skateraw a
Yellow-browed Warbler in Dean by waterfall early a'noon + Lapland Bunting in field north of Dean. At Musselburgh drake SURF SCOTER still late morning off the River Esk Mouth also Black Guillemot. Off the west side of Eyebroughty 23 Little Gulls & 2 Sandwich Terns lingering offshore late a.m also Short-eared Owl flew in off the sea NT492862. At Tyninghame single Jack Snipe flushed from saltmarsh north of the toilet block at JMCP this a'noon. At Port Seton Black Guillemot east of the harbour off Wrecked Craig's + 2 Med Gulls (both adults) by Seton Burn Mouth at dusk.

TUE 14/10/14 At Torness a Siberian Stonechat this a'noon in the stubble field south of the access road to Torness Power Station then this evening along the track between Torness & Thorntonloch 6.15pm at least NT750747 + Booted Warbler still showing well in trees at east end of plantation by the visitors car park this evening NT748748 + BLUETHROAT in NE corner of stubble field just east of the visitors car park then in gorse along grass bank on corner at north end of track between Torness & Thorntonloch this evening. At Musselburgh the drake SURF SCOTER still off the River Esk Mouth + Slavonian Grebe on boating pond still. In Tyninghame Bay 2 Little Egrets in SE corner at 5.30pm.

MON 13/10/14 At Torness the Booted Warbler still today on the SE side of Torness Power Station in trees by visitors car park NT748748. Off Hound Point
3 Long-tailed Skuas (all juveniles) past 08:15 - 15:15 also Pomarine Skua, 61 Arctic Skua, 6 Bonxie, 5 Little Gulls, 4 Whooper Swans, 9 Velvet Scoters & c800 Kittiwakes + 3 Arctic Skuas past 15:20 - 17:00. At Musselburgh 2 Little Stints reported on the wader scrapes at 4pm + Slavonian Grebe on the boating pond still. Near East Calder a female Mandarin Duck at Almondell & Calderwood Country Park on River Almond near sewage works at 11.30am cNT092695. In Aberlady Bay 3 Little Egrets still this a.m also 2 Greenshank, Merlin, Kingfisher & 20,224 Pink-footed Geese. Off Barns Ness 4 Manx Shearwaters & 2 Arctic Skuas past 14:00 - 15:00.

SUN 12/10/14 At Torness the Booted Warbler still showing well today on the SE side of Torness Power Station in trees by visitors car park NT748748 also 40+ Little Gulls past seawall 08:00 - 08:45. At Tyninghame Lapland Bunting still on saltmarsh north of toilet block at JMCP also 3 Twite. Off Dunbar Pomarine Skua north past this a.m also c50 Little Gulls + 2 Little Egrets at East Beach flew west towards Belhaven Bay at 08:55 then presumably the same 2 Little Egrets roosted at Seafield Pond this evening. Off Barns Ness 155+ Little Gulls past 09:30 - 10:45. At Scoughall a Yellow-browed Warbler in pine strip east of farm on north side of access to beach this evening. At Musselburgh the drake SURF SCOTER still off the River Esk Mouth also Red-necked Grebe, 7 Slavonian Grebes & 3 Red-thrated Divers off the seawall this a.m + 4 Ruff on the wader scrapes + Slavonian Grebe on the boating pond. In Aberlady Bay 3 Little Egrets this evening also Barn Owl. In Gosford Bay 3+ Red-necked Grebes off Longniddry also 35 Long-tailed Ducks. At Harperrig Reservoir the Hooded Crow still at west end at c12pm.

At Barns Ness a Yellow-browed Warbler in the old campsite wood this a'noon also Woodcock in the wire dump + 50+ Little Gulls offshore. At Musselburgh the drake SURF SCOTER still off the River Esk Mouth. In Belhaven Bay Jack Snipe below seawall at high tide ths evening also
Little Egret roosting by Seafield Pond. On the SW side of Edinburgh ringtail Hen Harrier reported east over Currie at 3pm.

FRI 10/10/14 At Musselburgh the drake SURF SCOTER still off the Eask Mouth late morning (+ 4 Ruff on the wader scrapes). At Tyninghame a Lapland Bunting on the saltmarsh, with a Pintail, Mediterranean Gull & Arctic Tern at the Inner Bay. At Blackness a Little Egret at the mouth of the Abercorn Burn.

LATE NEWS 09/10/14 At Aberlady a Yellow-browed Warbler by the track to the Marl Loch, also a juvenile Greenland White-fronted Goose & 332 Barnacle Geese + 5 Ruff, Whimbrel & Brambling.

THU 09/10/14 At Musselburgh a drake SURF SCOTER off the Esk Mouth this morning + 6 PB Brent Geese & a Red-necked Grebe. At Thortonloch, 2-3 Yellow-browed Warbler in the strip of wood along the approach road to the campsite. At Torness, Yellow-browed Warbler by the power station visitor centre still. At Barns Ness, Yellow-browed Warbler still in the old campsite wood + 18 Little Gull offshore & a Great Northern Diver flew south. At Harperrig Reservoir, a juvenile Greenland White-fronted Goose & 4 Barnacle Geese with Pink-feet this afternoon (Hooded Crow at the west end this morning). At Skateraw, a Short-eared Owl by the dry burn at 11. Off Dunber East Beach, 12+ Bottle-nosed Dolphin went north this afternoon. At Aberlady, still a Little Egret & 2 Greenshank. Off Longniddry a Great Northern Diver this afternoon.

WED 08/10/14 At Barns Ness the Yellow-browed Warbler still present in the campsite wood. At Thorntonloch a Yellow-browed Warbler in the pine belt, with nearby a Black Redstart around the farm buildings. At Skateraw a Yellow-browed Warbler in the waterfall dean by the car park. At Torness a Yellow-browed Warbler by the power station visitor centre. At North Berwick a Yellow-browed Warbler in sycamores at the end of the coastal road E to the golf course. Off Ferny Ness the Black Guillemot still present, along with 11 Red-necked Grebe. Off Dunbar, 3 Pomarine Skua, 3 Bonxie, a Mediterranean Gull & a Little Gull between 15:40 - 16:25. Off Cockenzie 12+ Little Gull this morning, with a Great Northern Diver nearby off Seton Harbour. At Aberlady Little Egret, 6 Ruff & 3 Greenshank.

TUE 07/10/14 At Barns Ness a Yellow-browed Warbler in the old campsite wood until 14:20 at least. At Torness 2 Brambling & a Chiffchaff. Off Hound Point a Black Tern, 6 Little Gull, a Mediterranean Gull & a Bonxie. At Musselburgh, 4 Scaup still offshore and a Ruff & Greenshank on the scrapes.

MON 06/10/14 At Hound Point between 08:30 - 16:30 today, 74 Pomarine Skua, 84 Bonxie, 68 Arctic Skua, 10 Little Gull & 50 Common Scoter.

SUN 05/10/14 At Torness, a FIRECREST in the bushes by the power station visitor centre from late morning, still present at 18:00 (+ 2 Brambling & Chiffchaff). At Hound Point this afternoon, 2 Long-tailed Skua (both juv), 1 Pomarine Skua, 8 Bonxie, 10 Arctic Skua, 2 Great Northern Diver & a Little Gull. At Gladhouse, still an Osprey present. Off Musselburgh, 4 Scaup (2 drakes). In Gosford Bay, 6 Red-necked Grebe off Longniddry Bents car park. Off Cockenzie, 3 Little Gull (+ Greenshank). At Seton Burn, an adult Mediterranean Gull (red 7P8). At Aberlady, 6 Little Egret, 5 Ruff & 2 Greenshank, nearby 2 Ruff in a flooded field behind Gulland (+ female Scaup off Gullane Point).

SAT 04/10/14 At Aberlady, a Lapland Bunting reported near the Old Ternery at 11:30, though no further sign. At Blackness, 8 PB Brent Geese & 57 Black-tailed Godwit.

FRI 03/10/14 At Aberlady, still one Little Egret.

THU 02/10/14 At Aberlady, 4 Little Egret + 5 Greenshank. At Musselburgh, 35 Little Gull, drake Scaup & Gadwall at the Esk Mouth + 3 Ruff at the Scrapes.

WED 01/10/14 At Musselburgh on the scrapes today - Jack Snipe, Whimbrel, Greenshank, 3 Ruff & 8 Gadwall. Over Baberton Golf Course/Juniper Green an Osprey went south at 09:30.
