2 Manx Shearwaters, 3 p/b Brent Geese, 4 Bonxie & Arctic Skua past 09:30-12:00. Off Torness juvenile Long-tailed Skua, 3 Sooty Shearwaters, 5 Manx Shearwaters,
8 Arctic Skuas, Bonxie, 1st-winter Med Gull & 2 Red-throated Divers all north past 16:00-19:25 + earlier adult Pomarine Skua, 5 Arctic Skuas, 9 Bonxie & Manx Shearwater past 11:30-13:30 + Yellow-browed Warbler & Spotted Flycatcher still in trees by visitors car park this evening also unconfirmed report of a Barred Warbler here this a'noon but no sign this evening. At Scoughall (1.5mls NE of Whitekirk) 2 Yellow-browed Warblers this a'noon both east of the farm; one in sycamores beyong orchard by caravan & one in the pine strip between farm & beach. At Skateraw Yellow-browed Warbler still in trees between car park & waterfall 9.10am. On the western outskirts of Edinburgh an immature HOBBY reported flying west over the River Almond east of Kirkliston at c11.30am cNT137739. In Aberlady Bay a juvenile Spotted Redshank downstream from wooden footbridge early a.m then flew towards Kilspindie also 5 Little Egrets, 4 Ruff & Pintail. Off Dunbar an adult Pomarine Skua flew north past 11.25am also
3 p/b Brent Geese, Arctic Skua & Bonxie past this a.m. In West Lothian a possible Honey Buzzard between Broxburn & Winchburgh over woods near Niddry Castle at c2.30pm. In Gosford Bay Black Guillemot again off Ferny Ness early a'noon also drake Scaup. At Musselburgh no sign of the Pectoral Sandpiper reported y'day on the wader scrapes but Curlew Sandpiper & 3 Ruff this a.m also 6 p/b Brent Geese flew west past + 2 Little Gulls (both adults) at the River Esk Mouth.

SAT 20/09/14 At Skateraw 2+ Yellow-browed Warblers in Skateraw Dean by the waterfall late a.m with one still showing by the car park at 2pm + nearby
1+ Yellow-browed Warbler just NW of Skateraw Cottages in trees between the farm buildings & the Dryburn from late a.m and still this evening cNT734753. At Barns Ness migrants today included 2 Pied Flycatchers, 2 Spotted Flycatchers, 2 Common Redstarts, 4 Whinchats, Yellow Wagtail & Garden Warbler also juvenile Long-tailed Skua reported flying north over beach at 10.10am & Greenshank + nearby 25 Brent Geese south past White Sands this a'noon. At Torness a Yellow-browed Warbler reported today. At Musselburgh a Pectoral Sandpiper reported on the wader scrapes at 1.15pm but no further news. Off Hound Point (east of South Queensferry) 35 Arctic Skuas,
6 Bonxie, Brent Goose & 120 Red-throated Divers (including a flock of 74) past 09:15 - 14:15. In Edinburgh c12 Brent Geese flew east past Portobello this evening. At Broxmouth (east of Dunbar) 2 Ruff, 3 Gadwall & Kingfisher at Fluke Dub also 10+ Wheatears between Dunbar Golf Course & White Sands Bay. In Midlothian an Osprey at Gladhouse Reservoir this a.m.

FRI 19/09/14 Off Hound Point (east of South Queensferry) 5 Pomarine Skuas flew west past 13:45 - 15:15 also 28 Arctic Skuas, 27 Bonxie & 6 Red-throated Divers + Greenshank along shore. At Skateraw a possible 'Siberian Lesser Whitethroat' favouring bushes on the west side of the Dry Burn c170m upstream from footbridge / burn mouth this a'noon NT734757 also 2 Tree Pipits, 2 Spotted Flycatchers & Garden Warbler but no sign of the Barred Warbler. At Barns Ness migrants this evening included Pied Flycatcher & Lesser Whitethroat + 2 Black-throated Divers south past. At Torness migrants today included Common Redstart, Lesser Whitethroat &
Garden Warbler. In Tyninghame Bay 2 Little Egrets & 4 Greenshank. In Dunbar 3 Yellow Wagtails with 100+ Pied Wagtails on Winterfield Golf Course this a.m also Peregrine.

THU 18/09/14 At Skateraw the BARRED WARBLER still by the Dry Burn c200m upstream from footbridge 10.15am at least NT734756. At Broxmouth (east of Dunbar) a Brambling flew east over Fluke Dub at 1.30pm. At Musselburgh 3 Little Gulls (2 juveniles) & Arctic Skua lingering off Fisherrow this a.m. At Torness Brambling &
5 Wheatear today.

WED 17/09/14 At Skateraw a BARRED WARBLER by the Dry Burn c200m upstream from footbridge at 3.30pm though elusive NT734756 also Whinchat & Tree Pipit in the area. In Dunbar a Yellow-browed Warbler at the east end of Winterfield Golf Course in trees by tennis courts early a'noon. At Broxmouth no sign of the Pectoral Sandpiper at Fluke Dub this a.m. At Barns Ness a Pied Flycatcher (for it's second day) in the old campsite this a'noon also 2 Spotted Flycatchers, Whinchat & 2 Yellow Wagtails. At White Sands no sign of the Yellow-browed Warbler around pine plantation north of Triangle Wood but Common Redstart & Merlin in the area today. At Torness
no sign of the Yellow-browed Warbler but Lesser Whitethroat & 2 Spotted Flycatchers. At Tyninghame Bay 2 Little Stints today. In Aberlady Bay 14 Ruff, Greenshank,
4 Little Egrets, Pintail & Kingfisher today.

TUE 16/09/14 At Broxmouth the PECTORAL SANDPIPER still showing well this a'noon (c500m east of Dunbar Golf Course Clubhouse) at Fluke Dub cNT692784 + nearby
2 Long-tailed Skuas flew past Dunbar Harbour 09:40 - 10:30 also Arctic Skua & 4 Manx Shearwaters. At Torness the Yellow-browed Warbler still in trees by the visitors car park this a.m also 2 Common Redstarts, Spotted Flycatcher & Garden Warbler but no sign of the Pied Flycatcher + nearby 2 Black Redstarts on the south side of Thorntonloch by pool near farm buildings early a'noon. At Barns Ness a Yellow-browed Warbler mobile between the old campsite & wire dump this a.m also
Common Redstart & 2 Spotted Flycatchers. On the west side of White Sands Bay Yellow-browed Warbler still in the pine plantation north of Triangle Wood this a'noon (probably the same Yellow-browed Warbler was in Triangle Wood at 8.30am) also Tree Pipit there this a.m. Off Hound Point (east of South Queensferry) 2 Pomarine Skuas past 11:00-15:00 also 15 Arctic Skuas. At Port Seton 2 Med Gulls (adult & 1st-winter) this evening + earlier possibly the same 1st-winter Med Gull at Seton Sands by burn mouth today. At Musselburgh 4 p/b Brent Geese, 7 Little Gulls (inc one juvenile) & 2 Pintail at the River Esk Mouth today also 3 Manx Shearwaters, Arctic Skua,
Red-throated Diver, Red-necked Grebe & Slavonian Grebe offshore. In Aberlady Bay 13 Ruff, Greenshank & 2 Little Egrets.

MON 15/09/14 At Skateraw the BARRED WARBLER still in scrub c250m west of the Dry Burn Mouth at 12pm cNT732760 + Long-eared Owl flew south from the Dryburn this a.m + 1st-winter Med Gull along shore at 10am. At Torness a Yellow-browed Warbler in trees at west end by access road to power station at 4pm + Pied Flycatcher by visitors centre this a'noon. On the west side of White Sands Bay a Yellow-browed Warbler south of Vaults Wood at the south end of the plantation just north of the Triangle Wood at 5pm. At Barns Ness a report of 4 Long-tailed Skuas south past at 10.30am also 2 Pomarine Skuas past at 8am.

SUN 14/09/14 At Barns Ness a Cory's Shearwater flew south past 8.35am also Long-tailed Skua, Sooty Shearwater & 15+ Bottle-nosed Dolphins south past this a.m. At Skateraw a BARRED WARBLER in scrub c250m west of the Dry Burn Mouth at 12pm cNT732760. At Torness a Black Redstart at the south end of the seawall walkway mid-morning also Black Guillemot south past. At Tyninghame the juvenile PECTORAL SANDPIPER still on saltmarsh pools east of the toilet blocks at John Muir CP this a.m cNT653788 + Little Stint, 6 Curlew Sandpipers, 2 Ruff & 2 Little Egrets today. At Broxmouth the PECTORAL SANDPIPER still showing well this evening c500m east of Dunbar Golf Course Clubhouse at Fluke Dub cNT692784 also Little Egret in trees south of Fluke Dub at 6pm. Off Gullane Point a juvenile Long-tailed Skua lingering around 12.45pm also Osprey south over. In the Lammermuirs a juvenile Marsh Harrier at Fasney Water this a'noon also Ring Ouzel. At Musselburgh 10 Scaup & 2 Gadwall at the River Esk Mouth this evening also Peregrine over + 2 Red-necked Grebes & 2 Slavonian Grebes off the seawall + 8 Ruff on the wader scrapes. On Craigleith Island (north of North Berwick) unconfirmed report of a Red-breasted Flycatcher today also Tree Pipit.

FRI 12/09/14 At the west end of White Sands Bay (1ml east if Dunbar) a BARRED WARBLER briefly at the NW end of the pine belt at Vaults Wood 4.45pm but no further sign by this evening cNT702780. At Tyninghame the juvenile PECTORAL SANDPIPER still this a'noon favouring saltmarsh pool east of the toilet blocks at John Muir CP cNT653788 also Wood Sandpiper, 3 Little Stints, 3 Curlew Sandpipers, 4 Ruff & 3 Yellow Wagtails on saltmarsh today.

THU 11/09/14 At Tyninghame the juvenile PECTORAL SANDPIPER still this evening on saltmarsh pools east of the toilet blocks at John Muir CP 6.55pm at least cNT653788 also Wood Sandpiper & Ruff. At Broxmouth (1km east of Dunbar) a PECTORAL SANDPIPER this evening at Fluke Dub 17:00 - 18:30 at least cNT692784. On the west side of Dunbar a Red-necked Grebe on Seafield Pond late morning at least. In Aberlady Bay 13 Ruff, 6 Greenshank & Black-tailed Godwit on river near wooden footbridge late a'noon also 5 Little Egrets in the bay today. At Musselburgh an Osprey flew south over the wader scrapes late a'noon. In the Pentalnds Osprey still at Harperrig Reservoir this morning also Greenshank still.

WED 10/09/14 At Tyninghame the juvenile PECTORAL SANDPIPER still this evening on saltmarsh just east of the toilet block at John Muir CP cNT653788 also
5+ Little Stints, 12+ Curlew Sandpipers, 2 Ruff & 3+ Greenshank between the saltmarsh & inner bay this a.m + nearby Pintail on Seafield Pond. On the NW side of Edinburgh a Little Egret at the River Almond Mouth in Cramond 1.30pm at least. In Gosford Bay Black-throated Diver off Ferny Ness early a'noon also
17+ Red-necked Grebes. In Aberlady Bay 3 Little Egrets early a'noon also 7 Ruff upstream from wooden footbridge. At Musselburgh adult Little Gull at the River Esk Mouth + 2 Bonxie, 4 Red-necked Grebe, Slavonian Grebe, Red-throated Diver & Puffin off the seawall + 11 Ruff on the wader scrapes also Peregrine. In the Pentlands an Osprey at Harperrig Reservoir also Greenshank for at least its second day.

TUE 09/09/14 At Tyninghame a juvenile PECTORAL SANDPIPER this a'noon with mixed wader flock just south of the River Tyne Mouth by Spike Island 3.25pm at least also 2+ Little Stints, 7+ Curlew Sandpipers & 2 Little Egrets today. In Aberlady Bay 2 Curlew Sandpipers (both juveniles including one colour-ringed), 13 Ruff,
Black-tailed Godwit & 3 Little Egrets. In Gosford Bay Black Guillemot off Longniddry Bents this a'noon also 26 Red-necked Grebes & Slavonian Grebe. At Musselburgh a Black-throated Diver off the seawall this a'noon also 5 Red-necked Grebes & 5 Slavonian Grebes + nearby adult Little Gull at the River Esk Mouth. At Barns Ness
no sign today of the Wryneck around the wire dump.

MON 08/09/14 At Barns Ness the WRYNECK still around the wire dump this a.m but very elusive + 8 p/b Brent Geese flew south past this evening also 5 Bonxie &
5 Arctic Skuas. At Musselburgh adult Little Gull off the seawall this a'noon also 3 Red-necked Grebes & 5 Slavonian Grebes + nearby 15+ Ruff & 9 Black-tailed Godwits on the wader scrapes + 1st-winter Med Gull at the River Esk Mouth this evening.

SUN 07/09/14 In Tyninghame Bay juvenile SPOONBILL viewable from Ware Road late a'noon also 2 Little Stints, 1+ Curlew Sandpiper & 2 Black-tailed Godwit today. At Barns Ness the WRYNECK still around wire dump this a.m but elusive. At Musselburgh juvenile Roseate Tern off the River Esk Mouth at c1.45pm + juvenile
Curlew Sandpiper, 9 Ruff & Gadwall on the wader scrapes still. On the NW side of Edinburgh probable Long-eared Owl flew over Cramond Island at 8am. In Aberlady Bay
5 Little Egrets today also 3 Greenshank & c170 Pink-footed Geese this evening. At Seton Sands 2 Med Gulls (adult & juvenile) in roost by burn mouth this evening but
no sign of the adult Yellow-legged Gull.

LATE NEWS 06/09/14 In Tyninghame Bay 5 Little Stints, Curlew Sandpiper & Ruff reported.

SAT 06/09/14 At Barns Ness a WRYNECK in bushes on the SE side of the wire dump briefly at 8.15am but no further sign. In Midlothian 2 Black Redstarts (both fm/imm) in the SE corner of Gladhouse Reservoir this a.m also Osprey, Kingfisher & Spotted Flycatcher. In Aberlady Bay Curlew Sandpiper still today.

FRI 05/09/14 At Seton Sands no sign of the adult Yellow-legged Gull in roost by burn mouth this evening but Black Tern nearby at Port Seton 14:20-14:35 at least + in Gosford Bay Black Tern off Ferny Ness this p.m also 39 Red-necked Grebes. In Aberlady Bay Green Sandpiper still on river near wooden footbridge this p.m also
Little Egret & 8 Ruff. At Musselburgh juvenile Curlew Sandpiper still on the wader scrapes today also 14+ Ruff & Common Sandpiper.

THU 04/09/14 On the east side of Port Seton adult Yellow-legged Gull at Seton Sands by burn mouth again this evening c7.15pm - 7.21pm then flew west c200m onto rocks & lost to view & no further sign by 8.15pm also 4 Med Gulls (2nd-winter & 3 adults) + Bonxie past this a'noon. In Gosford Bay the Black Guillemot still off Ferny Ness today but distant. In Aberlady Bay Green Sandpiper still on river upstream from wooden footbridge this a.m also 4 Little Egrets, 12 Ruff & 4 Greenshank today. At Musselburgh
2 Black Terns lingering off the River Esk Mouth this evening + nearby juvenile Curlew Sandpiper, 23 Ruff & Little Gull on the wader scrapes today + Bonxie,
Slavonian Grebe & Red-throated Diver offshore this a'noon.

WED 03/09/14 On the east side of Port Seton an adult Yellow-legged Gull at Seton Sands by burn mouth this evening + nearby in Gosford Bay a Black Guillemot off Ferny Ness from late a.m & still this evening also Black Tern offshore late a'noon & 42 Red-necked Grebes at 10am. At Musselburgh a Black Tern this evening off the River Esk Mouth / Fisherrow for c10mins then flew east at 6.55pm also Arctic Skua east past + juvenile Curlew Sandpiper, 18+ Ruff & 6 Black-tailed Godwits on the wader scrapes this a.m + 4 Red-necked Grebes & 4 Slavonian Grebes still off the seawall today + Kingfisher at the River Esk Mouth 7am. In Aberlady Bay Green Sandpiper,
3 Greenshank & 5 Little Egrets upstream from wooden footbridge this a.m + juvenile Curlew Sandpiper still in the bay. On the south side of Tyninghame Bay 2 Little Stints & 2 Curlew Sandpipers still mid-a.m by Hedderwick Burn Mouth + Little Egret.

TUE 02/09/14 At Musselburgh juvenile Curlew Sandpiper, 17+ Ruff, 14 Black-tailed Godwits & Little Gull on the wader scrapes this morning + 4 Red-necked Grebes &
4 Slavonian Grebes off the seawall. In Aberlady Bay juvenile Curlew Sandpiper, 3 Ruff, 2 Greenshank, Black-tailed Godwit & 4 Little Egrets this morning. In Gosford Bay
9 Red-necked Grebes off Longniddry Bents this morning.

MON 01/09/14 At Musselburgh juvenile Curlew Sandpiper, 25+ Ruff, 6 Black-tailed Godwits, Whimbrel & adult Little Gull on the wader scrapes today +
3 Red-necked Grebes & 3 Slavonian Grebes off the seawall. On the south side of Tyninghame Bay 3 Little Stints & 2 Curlew Sandpipers between the Hedderwick Burn & Spike Island today + nearby in Belhaven Bay Ruff, 4 Greenshank, Whimbrel & 2 Common Sandpipers this evening. In Aberlady Bay Little Egret still. At Seton Sands adult Med Gull in roost by burn mouth 7.45pm. In West Lothian Red Kite near Easter Inch on north side of M8 at 5pm.
