WILSON'S PHALAROPE - Musselburgh - November 2009
Arguably Bird of the Year in Lothian. This Wilson's Phalarope on the wader scrapes at Musselburgh was found on the morning of the 14th November by Phil Bould & Brian Hickman proved to be an extremely popular bird with birdwatchers from all over the country, and especially with those keen on the county lists. Only the 4th record of this species in Lothian and the first since August 1987, and with this long awaited wader staying for 12 days it gave many people the chance to catch up with it.
